ERROR: MAPI_E_FAILONEPROVIDER Error when Selecting Private Folder

Summary

While choosing a private source or destination folder for a relationship, a MAPI_E_FAILONEPROVIDER error occurs if the Add2Exchange Service Account does not have the proper permissions to access the private mailboxes. The group memberships for the account must be validated.

Symptom

While selecting a private folder to build a relationship, you get a dialog with the error:

Description

The group membership of the Service Account are very sensitive due to the tight security model of Microsoft Exchange. Frequently the membership of the account has not been configured properly according to the manual. In this case, the Add2Exchange Console will open and allow you to begin creating a relationship, but will give a MAPI_E_FAILONEPROVIDER error when you attempt to select a folder in a user’s Private mailbox.

Resolution

You must validate the group membership of the Service Account in Active Directory. Precisely follow the instructions given in the Add2Exchange Installation Guide. Refer to the section Prerequisite 2: Create the Service Account under the topic Step by Step Pre-Installation Instructions for details on group membership. Remove any groups that do not appear in the instructions and add any required but not present.
