Q: Does my license expire?
A: Add2Exchange Licensees: The license is perpetual for the version you initially purchased and free updates to that version can be had for as long as your Software Assurance period lasts, as long as you install it on the day prior to SA expiration. Our products will continue to replicate as long as the underlying infrastructure or your environment does not change. Having said that, most systems are "critically" updated monthly through Microsoft Update Services, and we highly recommend that process, and these updates do not invalidate your license. The license comes with one year free updates and is extended to whatever time your purchased for extended software assurance. If you are during this period, you are entitled to free version updates and upgrades on the licensed edition of your licensed DidItBetter Software product. We average two to three updates a calendar quarter and at more than one upgrade per year so we recommend keeping your Software Assurance active to take advantage of these improvements, compatibility enhancements and bug fixes. If your software assurance term ends and you haven’t renewed, you may still be able to use your current licensed version of your DidItBetter Software solution assuming nothing changed with the underlying names of the Microsoft products you use, including Exchange, Windows machine names, SQL instance used in your environment. If you are planning an Exchange migration or moving/installing Add2Exchange on a new on-premise server, be sure to keep your software assurance active to qualify for a discounted license transfer. If you upgrade after your Software Assurance period, you will need to purchase a discounted renewal, or in some cases, a new license. The Software Assurance extension to 2 or 3 years is the most cost effective and the Value Bundles, combining SW license, Tools and a block of Support, and is heavily discounted at about $300 per additional year for the licensing. The expired Software Assurance Renewal licensing is discounted, but slightly less, averaging $800, with the full Value Bundle license being discounted, but discounted the least.
If you have active Premier Support in place, please make sure you keep your software assurance active in order for our support team to better support you. If you're running a build which was placed on the retired list and is no longer supported, you'll need to upgrade to the newest build/upgrade; therefore we recommend keeping your software assurance active so you can benefit from any updates and upgrades released within your software assurance term. Renewing your software assurance is more cost effective than purchasing an upgrade license when expired.
Add2Outlook Server licensees: An active software assurance subscription is required to continue using the software.
If you're migrating to Exchange 2013 or 2016 and are currently an Add2Exchange Standard edition licensee, Add2Exchange Enterprise edition is required – please email us at info @ diditbetter.com for your crossgrade license pricing and include the end user company name so we can review our licensing records. We'll also need to schedule a preflight call with you to review what needs to be done on your end with regard to the Add2Exchange portion of the migration/move.

If you are an Add2Exchange licensee and running an older build of Add2Exchange Enterprise, you may be running an older build that doesn’t support Exchange 2013/2016.

Q: What happens if I install and update or upgrade after my software assurance term ends?
A: LICENSEES WITH EXPIRED SOFTWARE SUBSCRIPTION: You must have valid software assurance subscription in place BEFORE upgrading to a newer version of the licensed solution. During the installation it prompts you with expiration dates for SA. Please do not upgrade if you do not have a valid license or Software Assurance in place, or you will have to purchase a license before it syncs again.
Downgrading and reverting a VM machine to a prior state is highly damaging to the sync environment and can cause data issues requiring hours to remediate.
If your software assurance subscription expired and you attempt to upgrade, you will not be able to replicate until you purchase a current version upgrade license. Because of changes from version to version, downgrading to a previous version after an upgrade is performed is not possible.
Q: I have Premier Support in place. Does this cover free updates and upgrades?
A: In order to benefit from free updates and upgrades, you must have valid Software Assurance in place. Premier Support is used for remote/phone support services on the licensed product, not free upgrades. Premier Support is a block of support time we use to help support the installation remotely or by phone. If during your support session the engineer assigned to your case informs you that one or both tool licenses are required (and you haven’t yet licensed the tools), with an active Premier Support package in place, you would qualify for discounted pricing on the tool licenses. If you are running a product placed on our retired list and is no longer supported, contact us for your upgrade options.
Q: I have DidItBetter Annual Support in place. Does this cover our updates and upgrades?
A: Your software assurance which covers your updates and upgrades is different from your Annual Support which covers your Add2Exchange or Add2Outlook remote/phone support for one year. If you're software assurance end date doesn't line up with your Annual Support, we'll provide your options to renew both at the same time so they match with the same date and to avoid any confusion.
Q: We’re planning on retiring our on-premise Exchange server and moving to a hosted Exchange / Office 365 platform. Will we still be able to use Add2Exchange?
A: The Add2Exchange version you're running requires an on-premise Exchange server or a server which is housed at an off-site data center that is dedicated and not shared in a hosted environment. Add2Exchange Standard Edition and Add2Exchange Enterprise edition licensees are eligble for a discounted crossgrade to Add2Exchange 365 Edition. Q: We no longer have an on-premise Exchange server and are in a hosted environment. Our hosted services provider doesn’t provide synchronization features like your Add2Exchange product handled. What are my options?
