Re: Error when pre-installer tries to assign Public Folder Admin rigts

This message happens when it was unsuccessful in either making the service account object

or you have specified it does already exist and did not call it the correct name.

One thing we have seen that this utility does not allow for extended characters in the password, so a complex password at this stage will not work

We apologize for this shortcoming.  You can always change the password after the fact in AD.

Hope this helps

Re: Error when pre-installer tries to assign Public Folder Admin rigts

Thanks for the quick reply. I will give it a try. As the zAdd2Exchange account is already created, do I need to delete it and run the ore-installer again from scratch and specify a simple password?

Re: Error when pre-installer tries to assign Public Folder Admin rigts

no, not necessary

just specify that the account already exists, has a mailbox (first) and is not hidden

and then select that it already exists

Re: Error when pre-installer tries to assign Public Folder Admin rigts

No joy with simple password (5 alpha characters only , no numbers or special characters).  Same log.  Can you suggest anything else?

Thanks

Re: Error when pre-installer tries to assign Public Folder Admin rigts

Yes, please be sure to copy the preinstaller directory directly on the machine with Exchange Command Shell and do not run it from a mapped or unc drive

command shell scripts will not run across the network in this instance
