ERROR: Shared Memory Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server

Summary

The Add2Exchange SQL Server Express instance could not be reached, most likely due to a logon credentials misconfiguration. This occurs as the result of changing the Service Account password without resetting the logon credentials for the Add2Exchange SQL Server Express instance. You should verify the credentials on the Add2Exchange Service as well.

Symptom

The following errors occur in the Add2Exchange Event Log:

Description:

unable to start the service with current Logon credentials. Please open the SQL Server Configuration Manager, validate the A2ESQLServer database credentials as the A2E Service Account and start the server manually. Then open the Add2Exchange Console to continue.

Description

This error is a result of the Add2Exchange Service being refused a connection to the Add2Exchange SQL Server Express instance. This is due to either the SQL Server instance not being in a running state or from a credential mismatch.

Resolution

Verify that the Add2Exchange SQL Server Express instance is running. Verify the logon credentials for the service.
