Preinstaller Failure

Symptom

The Preinstaller fails.

If the Preinstaller fails, it is usually while creating the account or giving the account permissions. It is probable that there are exchange containers with similar names and the error is on account create because of the similar name resolution. Typically it is an incorrectly specified MDB or container.

Another reason may be that you are trying to make an account with an account that is not part of Domain Admins, with permissions to create it.

A review of the log in the Preinstaller Directory will show what failed.

Resolution

Open the Exchange Management Console and create the ZAdd2Exchange service Account manually and the mailbox in the desired container. Then run the Preinstaller again with the option checked that the account exists. It should run through successfully.

Be sure that UAC is turned off and that the system is rebooted prior to running the next steps.

Different Replication Server: If the replication server is different than the server you just ran the Preinstaller on, be sure that UAC is turned off and that the system is rebooted. Make the new Zadd2Exchange service account part of the local administrators of the replication server, and log on as the new service account. Install Mapi CDO and install the full version of Add2Exchange.

Same Server: If the replication server is the same as the server you just ran the Preinstaller on, log off of the server as the Administrator account and back on to the replication server as the ZAdd2Exchange service account. Install the full version of Add2Exchange.
