Microsoft does not support installing Exchange Server components and Outlook on the same computer
Summary
Microsoft does not support installing Outlook and Exchange on the same server for a number of reasons. Several Microsoft articles have been written on the reasons why.
Microsoft has also acknowledged that newer versions of Outlook, 2007 and 2010, do not pose the same possibility for harm to an Exchange Server, however, they do prevent the installation of Microsoft’s standalone CDO library. Since this library is a prerequisite for Add2Exchange in most environments, newer versions of Outlook are not to be installed on the same server as Add2Exchange. If present before Add2Exchange, they must be uninstalled prior to the installation of Add2Exchange (and CDO).
