Permanently Uninstalling Add2Exchange
Summary
These are not instructions to upgrade to a new version of Add2Exchange. These are the instructions to permanently uninstall Add2Exchange from your server. This may be helpful if you tried to install Add2Exchange with UAC on. Do not do this process if you have already set A2E up and it has replicated and you plan to continue using the software. These steps can be helpful if SQL fails to install, you will uninstall the software, turn off UAC and reboot, then install again.
Description
If you are going to move A2E or re set up the relationships, log on as the A2E service account, open the Add2Exchange Console and select Help, export setup and save to the desktop. This will give a starting point to remake relationships if you are going to recreate them. The new relationships do not have to be the same as the older relationships from this installation, but knowing what options were selected helps.
To permanently uninstall Add2Exchange, you must remove the copies it made. Log in as the A2E Service Account. Again, if the program was ever set up, and had replicated, you pretty much want to get rid of the copies of the items. Select each single relationship and delete the relationship and select to remove destination copies. If you are using the Relationship Group Manager, select each template and delete it. This will remove the tied copies when you close the console and start the Add2Exchange service. Let it sync a full cycle. To do this, you close the A2E Console and start the Add2exchange Service and look to the Add2Exchange Event log. After the success logs for each of your folder types, refresh the log and see the success audits. Open the Add2Exchange Console and verify there are no relationships still there. Verify the items have been removed from the destination folders before proceeding.
Open the Services Control Manager. Stop the Add2Exchange Service.
For the next step, make sure there is no Add2Exchange Console or Add2Exchange Agent in the TaskManager processes, from this session or from any other user. Stop the Add2exchange Service. Make sure the Add2Exchange Service is stopped and set to Automatic or Manual (and not disabled or you will have to reboot the machine)
Go to the Control Panel, and from Add Remove Programs, select to remove Add2Exchange and wait until it is finished.
Then Stop the A2ESQLServer Service from Services Control Manager. Then, still in Add/remove programs go to SQL Server and select remove, select (only) the A2ESQLServer instance and remove the SQL Server instance by following the onscreen prompts. There is usually no need to remove the workstation components as there may be another SQL instance there on that machine.
Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OpenDoor Software
. If you have a 64 bit system, the key will be under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/wow6432node/OpenDoor Software
. If you have other OpenDoor Software programs loaded, select Add2Exchange and delete it. If you do not have any other Open Door Software installations, select the entire OpenDoor Software Key and delete the entire key and sub keys.
Then open Windows Explorer. Navigate to the installed directory, (which is by default) C:\Program Files\OpenDoor Software®\Add2Exchange
and remove the directory and subdirectories.
This concludes the removal. Be certain to remove the relationships and select to remove the destination copies and let run a complete sync cycle with the Add2Exchange Console closed and the Add2Exchange Service started prior to the start of the uninstallation so it will remove all the copies.
