ERROR: Error 80090325: The Certificate Chain Was Issued by an Untrusted Authority
Summary
This error is encountered in Exchange System Manager when trying to administer public folders. It is caused by Internet Explorer not trusting Internet Information Server’s SSL certificate. You need to import the certificate into Internet Explorer’s Trusted Root Certificate Authorities.
Symptom
An error message is encountered when trying to open Public Folders in Exchange System Manager. The error reads: “The certificate chain was issued by an untrusted authority. ID No: 80090325 Exchange System Manager”.
Resolution
Import the certificate to the IE Trusted Root Certificate Authorities.

In Internet Explorer, press Alt if necessary to show the menus, then select Tools > Internet Options

Select the Content tab and click Certificates

Click Import…

Click Next >

Click Browse…

Select the certificate file and click Open

If you are using Small Business Server 2003, the certificate is typically located in the ClientApps\SBScert folder

Click Browse…

Select the Trusted Root Certification Authorities Store

Click OK
-
Click Finish
-
Close the remaining dialogs and reopen Exchange System Manager
